Robert Ross is a 2020 International Blues Challenge semi-finalist, two time NY Music Award winner, NY Blues Hall Of Fame inductee, and the 2019 South Florida Blues Challenge winner. Johnny Winter recorded one of Robert's original songs. Robert has backed up numerous blues legends including Big Joe Turner, Lightnin' Hopkins, Otis Rush, Mama Thornton, John Lee Hooker, Memphis Slim, and Brownie McGhee. Legendary radio host Bob Fass of Radio Un-nameable said, "Robert Ross is a blues icon, one of the great blues spirits." Ross is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, slide guitarist, harmonica player, and percussionist who performs as a solo, duo, or trio.

BOOTLEG HOLLOW BLUES RETREAT 2021
in Andes, NY in Delaware County
With ROBERT ROSS & JONATHAN LUKS
What: Three world class blues workshops plus jam sessions with two time New York Music Award winner and International Blues Challenge semi-finalist Robert Ross assisted by Jonathan Luks.
Who: Robert Ross recorded with Big Joe Turner, and played with Otis Rush, John Lee Hooker, Lightning Hopkins, J.B. Hutto, Memphis Slim, Homesick James, Sunnyland Slim, Mama Thornton, and Brownie McGhee. Johnny Winter recorded one of Robert’s original songs. We will go over important blues fundamentals as well as some advanced guitar, slide guitar, bass, and harmonica techniques while playing a variety of blues, blues rock, and jazzy blues material.
When: A weekend in mid September 2021 to be determined based on everyone’s availability. More info to come.
Price: $260.00 includes overnight accommodations from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon.
Also included: 5 nutritious & delicious meals and use of the property. There will be hiking, swimming, hot tub, and Jonathan will lead a jazz/yoga/stretch class with a meditation component. Ten dollars off if you are too late to snag a bed, and end up on a gym mat (they're not bad). $15.00 off if you camp out, Jonathan has 2 tents.
Where: A few miles from Andes, NY in Delaware County just 3 hrs from NYC on Jonathan’s 50 acre property in the middle of the Catskill Mountains. The site is quite remote and scenic. Bootleg Hollow will not be found on any map because hey, it was a Bootlegger's Hideout during Prohibition, so fuhgeddaboudit. However, we can provide excellent directions.

I will be taking on a limited number of dedicated guitar, bass, and harmonica students regardless of age or current level of expertise.
Robert is a two time New York Music Award winner and a New York Blues Hall of Fame inductee. Robert is known for a wide variety of blues, jazz, soul, country, rock ‘n’ roll, folk, and other roots music. Robert worked and recorded with Big Joe Turner and also worked with Lightnin’ Hopkins, John Lee Hooker, Otis Rush, Big Mama Thornton, Brownie McGhee, Memphis Slim, and other legends. One of Robert’s songs was recorded by Johnny Winter, and two other songs appeared on the soap opera “All My Children”. The Robert Ross Band has released 7 internationally distributed CDs and toured two continents. Robert has been teaching guitar for more then 25 years privately, and 13 years in NYC public schools. Robert’s work in the schools has been cited by the NY State Council of the Arts (NYSCA) for “best practices in arts in education programming”.
Lessons are $40 per half hour, and $60 per hour.
