I will be playing Artesano Cafe on Friday in Dania Beach. I will be solo because Heidi is still nursing her hand injury. She will be back in action soon, I am sure.
Next week on Tuesday May 2, I will perform at the Lantana Road Public Library, and starting in June I will be teaching guitar classes at that same library branch so come down and check it all out.
May 5 I leave for Mississippi for the first time in my life. I will be hanging with a couple of very good friends, writer Rafael Alvarez (aka: Mr. Baltimore); and harmonica player and lawyer Larry Hambrecht (aka: Lawrence Of Philadelphia). We will accompany Rafael who is working on a story about the tornado devastation in Rolling Fork MS for the Village Voice. Rafael and Larry are producing my new gospel cd which should be coming out later this year. Stay tuned for that. I think you will really like it.

Ross ’n’ Rose was supposed to do the gig but Heidi “Ho” Rosenbaum had to cancel because of a hand injury, so Robert will be playing solo, and he’s been doing a LOT of that in recent years. MISSISSIPPI BLUES TRAIL
I will join dear old friends Larry Lambrecht and Rafael Alvarez in Mississippi for a blues pilgrimage. Larry is a legal eagle, novelist, & an accomplished purveyor of the Mississippi Saxophone (aka: harmonica or blues harp); and Rafael is a veteran journalist (Baltimore Sun, Village Voice), screenwriter (The Wire), biographer, poet, and film maker. Lawrence Of Philadelphia and Mr. Baltimore are the producers of my new gospel record which due to come out later this year.
We will meet in Jackson MS and travel in Larry’s fancy schmancy horseless carriage to Rolling Fork because Rafael is doing a story for the Village Voice about the recent tornado outbreak that destroyed the town known far and wide as the birthplace of McKinley Morganfield aka: Muddy Waters. From Jackson to Rolling Fork to parts unknown, Larry’s blues chariot will roll all over Mississippi from May 5 to May 10.

I will be taking on a limited number of dedicated guitar, bass, and harmonica students regardless of age or current level of expertise.

Robert is a two time New York Music Award winner and a New York Blues Hall of Fame inductee. Robert is known for a wide variety of blues, jazz, soul, country, rock ‘n’ roll, folk, and other roots music. Robert worked and recorded with Big Joe Turner and also worked with Lightnin’ Hopkins, John Lee Hooker, Otis Rush, Big Mama Thornton, Brownie McGhee, Memphis Slim, and other legends. One of Robert’s songs was recorded by Johnny Winter, and two other songs appeared on the soap opera “All My Children”. The Robert Ross Band has released 7 internationally distributed CDs and toured two continents. Robert has been teaching guitar for more then 25 years privately, and 13 years in NYC public schools. Robert’s work in the schools has been cited by the NY State Council of the Arts (NYSCA) for “best practices in arts in education programming”.

Lessons are $40 per half hour, and $60 per hour.
