Subject: Greenwich Village Folk Festival live stream
Date: September 2nd 2022
The Robert Ross Band
September will be a busy and exciting month. Sunday I will perform for the Greenwich Village Folk Festival live stream along with other artists I have long admired and been inspired by including Howard Levy and Dan & Claudia Zane. I have done several of these amazing festival streams and every single artist that appeared has been stellar thanks to Ray Micek and Rod MacDonald who founded and run the festival. Rod is also one helluva singer songwriter.
Then I will be going to Philadelphia to make a gospel recording that I am very excited about. I will also see some old and dear friends who are involved in the project, the brilliant writer Rafael Alvarez, and my harmonica buddy and legendary legal eagle Lawrence Of Philadelphia Hambrecht. They are producing this gospel project.
In between and after I will be performing in Florida from Davie to Stuart & Sewall's Point.

Robert Ross Goes To Philadelphia
I will be going to Philadelphia from September 18 - 25, 2022. I will be there to record some tracks for a new gospel project or two.
I will be accompanied by South Korea’s Ha Heon Jin who I met in Memphis. Ha will be on rhythm guitar. Also on the sessions will be Philly’s own Mike Boone on stand up bass; and Jim Holton on cello & piano. The recording will be released on cassette tape in the near future, hopefully in early 2023.
Maybe you are wondering why, in hell would anyone release a recording on cassette tape in the 21st Century? Am I intentionally trying to sabotage my own career? Have I lost my noodle or sumptin’?
Well, maybe, but ask Linda Smith of Baltimore who has been releasing cassette tapes for years not and she would say that cassette tapes are making a dramatic comeback much like vinyl has been experiencing for a good long while.
I will record 6 songs which will appear on one side of the cassette, and Linda will record the same 6 songs on the other side. Needless to say our interpretations of the gospel tunes will be quite different. Linda has a unique style. And that is the point. Different interpretations of traditional gospel tunes done by two unique individuals. This is good. I’m psyched.
The talented and renowned Linda Smith has been selling quite a lot of cassette tapes with the home recordings she has done herself, and I look forward to working in collaboration with her on this project.
My old pals, famed author and television writer Raphael “Mr. Baltimore” Alvarez, and deluxe harmonica player & legal eagle Larry “Lawrence Of Philadelphia” Hambrecht are making my participation in the project possible.
Raphael hooked me up with Linda Smith since he also lives in Baltimore, hence the moniker “Mr. Baltimore”. Raphael is also writing a book about me (more about that in the months ahead). He also wrote a wonderful article about me in The Village Voice last March. Raphael is also working on an independent film about the rosary beads used in his faith. And Lawrence is our executive producer and the only one of us with his feet planted firmly on terra firma.
