AUGUST SCHEDULE

BOOTLEG HOLLOW BLUES RETREAT with Robert Ross & Jonathan Luks in the Catskill Mountains!!
When: Starting on Friday, August 2 at 6PM, all day on the 3rd right up until 2PM on the 4th, 2019 (44 hours in all)
This is my 2nd time co-hosting a blues workshop with Jonathan Luks at Bootleg Hollow Blues Retreat in Andes NY. If it's anything like the first one, this is gonna be a blast!
I will share some of my blues & jazz techniques with 3 Master classes. There's room for about a dozen musicians.
We will go over the fundaments as well as some advanced guitar, slide guitar, bass, and harmonica techniques while playing a variety of blues, blues rock, and jazzy blues material.
Enjoy wonderful nutritious food, mountain hikes, swimming, hot tub, a jazz/yoga/stretch class, and lots of jamming. Just 3 hrs from NYC on Jonathan’s 50 acre property in the middle of the Catskill Mountains. The site is quite remote and scenic. About 3 miles SW of Andes NY. Bootleg Hollow will not be found on any map because hey, it was a Bootlegger's Hideout during Prohibition, so fuhgeddoubit.

The offer is as follows: Robert's classes as mentioned above, up to 5 meals, and use of the property as described. Jonathan will also lead a stretch and tone class with dance, yoga and meditation elements.
Arrival is on Friday at or after 6PM. We’ll have 2 long sessions on Saturday begining at 10:30AM. We will break for lunch, yoga, stretching, hiking. swimming, and another workshop, dinner, and another 2 hour workshop in the evening. We'll have a casual brunch Sunday and leave around 2:00. That's the basic concept, it will be fine tuned as we move forward.
The price for each participant from the above list is $260.00, about the cost of 2 nights at a Best Western with no food or world class Blues. Ten dollars off if you are too late to snag a bed, and end up on a gym mat (tthey're not bad). $15.00 off if you camp out, Jonathan has 2 tents.

I will be taking on a limited number of dedicated guitar, bass, and harmonica students regardless of age or current level of expertise.

Robert is a two time New York Music Award winner and a New York Blues Hall of Fame inductee. Robert is known for a wide variety of blues, jazz, soul, country, rock ‘n’ roll, folk, and other roots music. Robert worked and recorded with Big Joe Turner and also worked with Lightnin’ Hopkins, John Lee Hooker, Otis Rush, Big Mama Thornton, Brownie McGhee, Memphis Slim, and other legends. One of Robert’s songs was recorded by Johnny Winter, and two other songs appeared on the soap opera “All My Children”. The Robert Ross Band has released 7 internationally distributed CDs and toured two continents. Robert has been teaching guitar for more then 25 years privately, and 13 years in NYC public schools. Robert’s work in the schools has been cited by the NY State Council of the Arts (NYSCA) for “best practices in arts in education programming”.

Lessons are $40 per half hour, and $60 per hour.
