Organized crime families have been found in all countries and among all ethnic groups throughout history. You even find organized crime in government, including democracies such as ours, from time to time. I apologize in advance on the remote chance that the song's humor is misunderstood and offends anyone. This is a new recording and as yet unavailable anywhere else but right here. Check it out and let us know what you think. The Old Testament story of Abraham and his two sons sheds much light on the current situation in the Middle East. Three major religions of the world, Judaism, Christianity, & Islam consider Abraham as a great patriarch. He was quite unique in his day in that he believed that there was only one true God. Abraham's wife Sarah, both in their 90s at the time, could not have an heir to his great wealth. Sarah's young Egyptian servant Hagar, would be the mother of Abraham's first son Ishmael who in turn became the father of the Arabs. Abraham's wife Sarah would become the mother of his second son Isaac who became the father of the Jews. The subsequent rivalry was resolved when they chose to keep Isaac (the chosen one) and reject Ishamel and his mother. Music: Jay Gorney, Original Lyric: Yip Harburg, New Lyric: Robert Ross 8/29/07. Based on Yip Harburg's Depression era classic of 1932 when the country was wracked with massive unemployment, farm foreclosures, and homelessness starting with the 1929 stock market crash. These new lyrics are about George W. Bush and his War On Terror in the 2000s. Bush alone can now designate someone an enemy combatant and take away all their rights. These policies destroy reedoms (habeas corpus rights) which have been around since the Magna Carta in 1215. Warrantless wiretapping, eavesdropping on overseas telephone calls, illegal indefinite detention without charge, no contact with family, no legal representation, no day in court to prove your innocence, extraordinary rendition, degrading treatment, and torture. Soon the news about Abu Graib and Guantanamo Bay appeared in the press, and the world was shocked to learn that the treatment of prisoners was in violation of international and U.S. law. "One Man One Vote" tackles recent election day practices and their implications for a democracy that is hanging in the balance. This is a full length mp3 file.
